They came from behind

It was a dark day. The ground was unstable, and the winds of change where blowing. The Shas'O didn't enjoy the taste on the air. It was like a portent of doom he just couldn't shake.

Tau- Assailed on all sides, facing impossible odds, the Tau stood firm. In a hail of explosions, both from indiscriminate orbital bombardments, and then the destruction and catastrophic explosion of not one, but both Area Denial Nodes, the Tau force was heavily weakened, and began to falter. With the onslaught of Tyranids and the Blood Angels all swarming on to their position, the Tau could only do the possible. They died.
Tyranids- The Tyranid attack was ferocious, showering their foes in a rain of ichor and entrails. After taking many many casualties, including the Hive Tyrant veteran of many battle, and more Gaunts than could ever be counted, the Tyranids came just short of taking the prize.
Blood Angels- After weathering the bombardment without a single injury, the Blood Angels commenced their assault. None where safe, every force a target. Slaying Tyrant, Tau, Immortal, and traitor alike, nothing could escape their wrath. Maybe it was their unbridled fury that led to their undoing, but as the Storm Raven crashed down, only the Scouts were left to shoulder their sniper rifles and make a quiet retreat.
Chaos Space Marines- The Acolytes of Change had suffered the most from the unstable ground, losing two Rhinos, a third to Tau fire, and their Defiler to their own bombardment. The seemed almost unbothered by the loses. Making an almost ponderous journey towards the objective. In the end they seemed content to slay the Blood Angel Death Company and then just watch as the Necrons battled a Hive Guard for control.
Necron- At the opening of the conflict, the Necrons, single handedly, layed a Carnifex low. Then they took a heavy hit from the bombardments that rocked the field. Near the end there was a time when it looked like they may loose their hold, phasing back to whence they came, but they held on, not only coming back, but charging AND killing the Carnifex in front of them. They then went on to be the strongest force holding the objective and thus bringing them selves victory.

In a battle of massive barrages, apocalyptic explosions, and near defeats, the under dog come from behind and wins the day. By far this was the most exciting battle to date. But, with the Necrons holding the hill, I expect the next to be even bigger.
