When the King falls.

As small clouds of metallic terror slowly drift across the hills and woods, the adversaries face one another. Eager to do battle, eager to draw blood. The forces of the Imperium, intent on holding the portal in the name of the Emperor, sure that the others have only foul intentions. The forces of Chaos, visions of glory and power fueling their desire to take control and rule once more. The Tyranids, intent only upon the biomass that can be harvested if the are able to reap the portals mighty harvest. Only one can be king, only one can take control. Who will triumph? Or will the portal be its own master once more.


Turn 1
Sisters of Battle- Contrails arc through the sky as a pair of Hunter Killer missile scream home into a Blood Angels Dreadnought, leaving it immobile and drawing blood.
Chaos Space Marines- With the snap of twisting bone, the Obliterators draw line on a pair of Hive Guard, slaying one and wounding the other. Upon the other flank a Defiler clambers over a rocky outcrop, baring down upon the Sisters of Battle's Landraider, but only manages to stun its crew.
Tyranids- The wounded Hive Guard fires upon the nearby Thousand Sons' Rhino, immobilizing it.
Dark Angels- In the distance, the Dark Angels take stock of their opponents and prepare for battle.
Blood Angels- A Vindicator fires upon the approaching Flagellants, killing one. A Storm Raven swoops in from above, opening fire and killing two more.

Turn 2
Sisters- The Inquisitor orders a warrior from his retinue to fire upon the Defiler as they exit the Landraider, shielding his eyes from the explosion. Coming fast around the rocks, the Sisters Repentia bare down upon a unit of Chaos Terminators, lead by a Sorcerer Lord, killing two Terminators, and wounding the Sorcerer. In return the Terminators left six dead with their lightning claws.
CSM- The Chaos Dreadnought unleashes a howl of rage and charges toward a nearby by Penitent Engine. The rest of Chaos force join the cry, momentarily forgetting where they are, and fail to advance upon the enemy. Gathering their wits, a unit of Thousand Sons fire upon the Sisters that were moving around the Sorcerer's squads flank, killing four. Giving the Terminators time to finish the Repentia. Still deep in its own rage, the Dreadnought slays the Penitent Engine in a shower of pyrotechnics.
Nids- The Tyrant takes the advantage given by the Chaos lapse, and unleashes a rain of bio-organisms that slay the Daemon Prince outright. The Hive Guard finishes what it started, turning the Rhino into a wreck. Broods of Genestealers creep into battle from unexpected angles, one slaying the Dark Angels Devastator squad outright, another assaulting the now free Chaos Terminator squad. The Terminators fair better than the Angels, only losing two, but killing 3. A Carnifex lets out a howl of its own, and charges into the remaining Defiler, but is unable to penetrate the daemon engine, and dies to its massive claws.
Dark Angels- Turning their own Landraider to face the Genestealers and bringing a Terminator squad in through teleport, the Dark Angels take vengeance upon the Genestealers, killing all six. The Dark Angles Dreadnought opens fire upon the Defiler, immobilizing it and removing its battle cannon in one well placed salvo.
Blood Angels- With a scream of jetpacks, a squad of Blood Angels Assault Marines swoop behind the Sisters' lines and lay into a Penitent Engine, turning another one into a shower of shrapnel. The Storm Raven takes aim upon an Immolator, cleanly removing power of fire.

Turn 3
Sisters- The clouds of metallic terror claim their first blood, taking the Blood Claw from the Blood Angels Librarian Dread. Seraphim swoop in to bring vengeance upon the Blood Angel Assault Marines, killing three. The Landraider crew regains their composure and fire upon the Chaos Dread, shaking it. The Sisters of Battle ignore the swirling combat and return fire upon the Thousand Sons, killing three with flames of retribution.
CSM- Screaming from the Warp, the Daemon Prince returns to exact his revenge. The Thousand sons once again fire upon the Sisters, killing once. The returned Prince charges into the wounded Hive Guard slaying it outright. The Terminators finish off the Genestealers, and the Dread slays the Inquisitor's Penitent and would have slain the Inquisitor as well had the Chirugeon not interfered. The Inquisitor promptly fled, however.
Nids- An egg of Gaunts fall from the sky and kill a Dark Angels Terminator, while a Trygon Prime rises from the earth to immobilize a Dark Angels dread. The Hive Tyrant once again turns to its biomorph weaponry, slaying two Obliterators, then assaults and kills the third. The Gaunts birthed from the Tervigon charge the Daemon Prince, causing a single wound.
Dark Angels- Finally commiting to battle, the Dark Angels call in an orbital bombardment, slaying five Blood Angel Assault Marines and four of the Inquisitor's retinue. A Tactical squad lead by Acealeus himself, leaps from the Landraider to lay waste to the Gaunts. The two Dreads assault the Trygon Prime, who leaves one shaking. A unit of Terminators teleport onto the hill and slay the Genestealers who were lurking there.
Blood Angels- The Vindicator turns its gun upon the opposing chapter's Terminators,who now hold the hill, killing three. The Storm Raven turns its guns upon the other Immolator, leaving it a smoking wreck. In the distance the Assault Marines decide to finish things and assault the Seraphim, killing three, but losing a battle brother to the Sisters. The Seraphim promptly ignite their own packs and retreat to a safe distance to regroup.

Turn 4
Sisters- Realising that their objective is out of reach, the Sisters open fire with everything they have. A Lance Strike on the hill kills a Dark Angel Terminator, while the Sisters from the ruined Immolators slay the Lictor threatening the Assassin in a small copse. The Retributors bring their Heavy Bolters in line with the Assault Squad, leaving only the Sanguinary Priest. The Landraider immobolizes the dread, insuring that it would be no threat in the coming as they withdraw.
CSM- The forces of Chaos also realize they are to far out of position to make a run for the throne, but do far less to those that are. The Sorcerer gifts the Sisters with Chaos, leaving a Spawn in place of one. The Terminators and Lord stand back to watch the carnage. The Prince however continues to fight, killing two more Gaunts, but taking two more wounds in return.
Nids- The Terranifex, a Spore Pod, and the Tyranid Warriors all fire upon the Dark Angels Tactical Squad, killing two. The Daemon Prince kills two more Gaunts, before dieing to a thousand scratches, once more returning to the Warp.
Dark Angels- In hopes of taking Goreswirl, the Dark Angels consolidate towards the hill, even bringing in another squad of Terminators to fortify their position.
Blood Angels- But it was not to be. With a roar of thunder, the flash of teleporters, and the crash of Landraiders falling to earth, the Blood Angels show their true force. In a rain of red, the Blood Angels make their own bid for the hill. Almost before the strike home, Angels fire upon Angels. When the sound and the smoke and the dust finally dissipate however, the Dark Angels were just too dug in, and their Terminators were able to hold till the end, forcing all to withdraw, none with the crown.

Once again, a King could not be crowned. Only the Angels could lay claim to it, though neither could deny the others claim. The Tyranids held the hill for the briefest of time, but not in numbers strong enough to hold it. Neither the Sister of Battle or the Chaos Space Marines were able to move their forces across the field to make any claim.
